So Dr. Phil counseled the boy to consider the risks of scars and did some basic questioning to determine if the boy was “emotionally mature” enough to make this decision. Dr. Minetti, the plastic surgeon, was willing to do the gynecomstia surgery (at Dr. Phil’s expense).
